Laurel Brook Turf Farm Four Generations of Excellence

Family-owned Rhode Island turf farm growing and delivering premium sod since 1984. Built on tradition, quality, and personal service.

Our Story

Family Owned & Operated Since 1984

Laurel Brook Turf was founded in 1984 as a family-owned business dedicated to providing premium Kentucky Bluegrass sod to homeowners, landscapers, and contractors across New England.

Our roots run even deeper, our parent company, Laurel Brook Farms, began farming potatoes in the 1940s and expanded into sod production in 1971. In 1993, all turf operations were transferred to Laurel Brook Turf, making sod our sole focus.

Today, Laurel Brook Turf represents four generations of Rhode Island farming tradition, with the fifth and sixth generations already working alongside us in the fields. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to quality sod, fresh-cut daily and delivered directly to your job site.

President/Owner

Deb grew up in the Tucker potato farming family in South Kingstown, RI. Her parents and both sets of grandparents were potato farmers. Deb & Mike started Laurel Brook Turf, Inc. in 1984 when she decided she wanted to be back in farming full time. Her background in farming and their business experiences was the foundation for LBT. Deb's hands-on approach and understanding of customer needs offers unique customer service and support.

Mike grew up in Narragansett, RI and was a business major at Johnson & Wales University before being employed at the University of Rhode Island. Mike had been volunteering on the Tucker farm and Laurel Brook Farms since 1971 and became very familiar with equipment and farm management. He has been extremely happy and proud to be spending the past 33 years teaching and passing along this knowledge to his children.

Production Manager

Mike & Deb's son grew up on the sod farm and as a fifth generation farmer, began driving forklifts, tractors and trucks on farmland at an early age. At 15 he began "stacking" the sod on pallets on the harvester, loading the pallets onto trailers and mowing the turf. Mike graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2003 with a degree in Business Management. He is now managing all production aspects of our sod, meticulous in providing a stunning sod product from preparation through fertilization, watering and mowing schedules. Mike and his wife Maura often have their two young children at the farm, who already have a love for the tractors and trucks.

Office & Field Assistant

Mike & Deb's daughter is also a fifth generation farmer who grew up on the farm driving trucks, tractors and forklifts. She was 11 when Mike sent her out into an empty section of a field to learn to drive a "stick shift" while he and the crew were harvesting nearby. Jennifer and her rottweiler, Jetta, measured job sites, met with customers and provided quotes. She also managed our installation crew. Jennifer has recently moved to Pennsylvania to pursue her dream of equine muscular therapy, but will occasionally be answering calls to quote, advise and schedule orders.

Every call, every order, and every delivery is handled by someone who truly cares about your project's success.
